The P&C contributes funds for activities, events and resources for students and staff of Canberra High School, in line with the school's CARES values - Community, Attitude, Respect, Excellence and Safety.
Each year, we fund initiatives to help the school community, such as mental health ambassador training, writers camp, year 9 leadership speaker, World Teachers Day thank you lunch and end of year school awards.
We are excited to share below details on how the funds we raise and grants we obtain are used to directly make a difference for students, staff and the wider community. Every contribution really does make a difference!
C is for Community
R U OK? Day
We are so proud to have played a supporting role in Canberra High School's first ever R U OK? Day event on Thursday 13 September 2026, which brought the whole school together for an afternoon of activities focused on 'people, places and things that make you happy'.
From decorating biscuits to playing giant tetris (IRL!), the funds raised by the P&C helped many activities come to life - an excellent display of the difference we as a community can make.
A huge shout out to @ACTBanditsBaseball for setting up a baseball stall on the school oval - registration is now open for the 26/27 season; to Marie Skelton, creator and co-presenter of the @HappinessforCynics podcast, who gave the keynote speech at the whole school assembly; and to P&C members Jen Hummelshoj and Krystal Garcia who ran an aromatherapy stress ball stall, creating 100 stress balls with enthusiastic students!
R is for Respect, Rights and Responsibilities
Drunk Goggles
With the support of the Tradies Dickson, the P&C has co-funded the purchase of 12 Fatal Vision Impairment Goggles, also known as ‘drunk goggles’. These goggles allow students to safely experience some of the effects associated with alcohol and drug impairment, including visual distortion, confusion, reduced alertness, slower reaction times, and altered depth and distance perception.
This resource provides a valuable, hands-on learning experience, reinforcing important safety messages around the effects of alcohol and responsible decision-making, supporting students to learn skills that carry beyond the classroom. They will be used in Health and Physical Education classes for our years 9 and 10 students and the year 10 ACT Pre-Learner Licence Training Program.

E is for Excellence
2026 Australasian Futsal Champion of Champions tournament
The CHS Senior Girls (Years 9 - 10) futsal team were the ACT champions of 2026 and invited to represent their school and the ACT in Brisbane at the 2026 Australasian Futsal Champion of Champions tournament.
The P&C was very pleased to find ways to help the team with their travel costs - alongside inviting the team to leverage the annual P&C Trivia Night to raise money, we were able to secure a $1,000 grant from Bulk Nutrients.
This is a wonderful example of how we can support excellence in the CHS community, as well as celebrate the positive and hard working attitude of the students and their teachers.
School Representative Sport Pride
Students regularly have the opportunity to represent CHS in competitive team sports, and having the right uniform ensures students can display a sense of community and school pride. The P&C was able to help replenish the stock of representative team shirts, featuring a new design created and donated to the school by a former student - further highlighting the talent and commitment in the school community.
